The NLBRA, which was founded in 1952, is a youth rodeo organization for kids’ ages 5 to 18. The NLBRA’s principal goal is to develop within its members and their families a spirit of fair competition and appreciation of good sportsmanship throughout the experience of healthy rodeo competition.
The NLBRA season begins in July each year and ends in June at the National Little Britches Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma. Contestants compete at franchise rodeos throughout the season to earn their spot to compete at the NLBFR in Oklahoma. Contestants are required to place in the top 6 in 6 rodeos per event to qualify to go to the NLBFR in June. National members are eligible to compete at any franchise rodeo across the country to earn their qualifications to NLBFR held in June.
In 2025 the NLBRA had 47 franchises that hosted over 600 rodeos across 33 states. The 2025 NLBFR held in Guthrie, OK saw 1,565 contestants from across the country competing over the week. The NLBFR awarded 1,033 buckles, 46 saddles, and 120 scholarships in 2025.
CBLBR is a sanctioned chapter of the NLBRA.
Carolina Border rodeos offered throughout the season allow contestants entered to earn NLBRA points and jackpot money. The jackpot money awarded at each rodeo is 60% of the entry fees paid in to each event. Contestants that have purchased a Carolina Border membership and are in good standing are also accumulate points towards Carolina Border year-end awards.
In 2025 Carolina Border was able to award year end prizes to the top 10 in each event. The 2025 year end awards included 184 various tack awards, 6 saddles, and 77 buckles.
